About us
The Prince Albert Multicultural Council was originally established in 1963, as a social and dance group to promote dances of various cultures in Prince Albert. In 1973, Culture and Ethnics groups were formed. On January 9, 1974, the Prince Albert Multicultural Council (PAMC) was officially established. The aim of this council was to promote, develop and co-ordinate multicultural activities in Prince Albert and area.
PAMC has grown and evolved over the past 50+ years and has become a very significant organization
within the community. The council has broadened its scope of activities to include settlement services,
language classes, employment skills training, diversity and multicultural awareness, and is host to many major community events and festivals.
PAMC values:
People by being aware of and supporting personal perspectives, values, beliefs, preferences and
acknowledging the variety of characteristics that make individuals unique, including race,
ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age and physical abilities.
Relationships made through the interconnections between and among all parts of the
community.
Culture as system of acquired values, assumptions, agreements, beliefs and rules through which
members of a group relate to each other and the world.
Respect as the process of honoring people, spaces and things by exhibiting care, concern, or
consideration for the needs or feelings of others.
Inclusion in that all people, regardless of their abilities, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation,
socio-economic status, age, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other ideologies have a right to
be included.
